Short answers to what people ask first.
An app that runs on your computer and uses an AI assistant (Claude Code) to do work for you. You describe a goal, it works in the background, and you review the result. You can follow along and approve things from your phone.
A Mac, Windows or Linux computer, a Claude Code account (Tether helps you set it up the first time), and Git. For the phone, install Tailscale on your computer and your phone and sign in to the same account.
The work itself runs on your computer through your own Claude Code account. If you turn on planning, short notes such as summaries and next steps go to Fincher's planning service, and anything that looks like a password or key is removed first. The service doesn't keep what you send. It logs only counts. Choose Local only in Settings and nothing is sent; Tether then uses simpler built-in rules.
Tether is an early preview. It keeps your keys encrypted on your computer and asks before risky steps, but it is not a substitute for your own policies on client data. Ask the person who invited you before using it with sensitive material.
It's how Fincher's planning service knows the request is yours, so there are no keys for you to copy or paste. You can sign out any time in Settings, and Tether keeps working with its built-in rules.
This page always has the newest version, shown at the top. Download it and install over the old one. Your projects and settings stay on your computer. A notice inside the app is planned.
Mac: drag Fincher Tether to the Trash. Windows: Settings, then Apps, then Fincher Tether, then Uninstall. Uninstalling does not touch your project folders.
